What is green garden waste?

Green waste is composed of waste products that are biodegradable, which means they can easily break down and become a part of the earth again. This is typically made from garden waste, such as grass clippings and weeds. It is “green” because it is high in nitrogen, as opposed to brown waste, which is predominantly carbonaceous.

What you can and can't recycle?

You Can Put:

  • Grass, leaves, Hedge trimmings, small branches, weeds, bark, old plants
You Can’t Put:
  • No Asbestos or other hazardous waste
  • No general waste
  • No cleanfill/hardfill
  • No food waste
  • No soil
  • No cabbage trees, bamboo or flax
  • No tree trunks or stumps

Terms of Use

  • Standard payment must be made in full prior to delivery., an additional charge will apply if exceed the weight limit (as specified in the image above). The overweight charge is $0.23/kg + GST for general and green waste.
  • We offer two hire terms: 5 days as standard hire. For longer durations, please reach out via our contact form for a quote. Deliveries and removals are scheduled Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Saturday from 7:00 am to midday, excluding public holidays.
  • Any form of hazardous waste is prohibited and may not be disposed of in your Auckland Waste bin. This includes, but is not limited to: chemicals, waste oil, paints, tyres, fibrolite (asbestos), bulk food waste or meat and flammables.
  • Due to health and safety obligations, we require all types of waste to be placed 15 centimetres below the top edge of the waste bin. If the filled bin is over the height or weight limit of the transport truck, you will need to adjust it and reschedule for removal.

    If our driver arrives on site and cannot remove the bin because it exceeds the height or weight limitation, you will be charged $100 + GST for our service/trip. Please also ensure that the entrance path is at least 3 metres wide and 4 metres tall so that our waste trucks have sufficient space to enter and load the waste bin.
  • Hardfill bins must only contain hardfill waste, and soil bins must only contain soil waste. Mixing other variations of waste in these bins will result in a charge being calculated at the general waste rate ($0.23/kg + GST) for the total weight of the filled waste bin.
  • A minimum of 12 hours notice is required for any cancellation. If you cancel after your Auckland Waste driver has departed from our headquarters, you will be charged $100 + GST for our service/trip.By booking an Auckland Waste delivery or removal, you are agreeing to the terms and conditions above. Please let us know if you have any concerns prior to your delivery. Auckland Waste reserves the right of final interpretation and decision upon disputes and ambiguities.
